What happened at Commercial UAV Expo Americas 2021
Commercial drone exhibitors and attendees gathered for Commercial UAV Expo Americas 2021, held September 7-9, 2021 at the Mirage in Las Vegas.
Day 1 :
Today was a hot beginning to the UAV Expo event. Most of the day was taken up by live demonstrations at a testing site located outside Las Vegas (It was 43C degrees in the shade) . YellowScan partnered with drone company Skyfront for a live flight demo. Skyfront flew their long endurance Perimeter 8 drone with a mounted YellowScan Explorer scaning and gathering point cloud data. Great flight and presentation to 350 participants. Our North American MD, Cliff Holle, also have a presentation about Explorer in the Product Preview track. Tomorrow the exhibition hall opens to attendees.
Day 2 :
Day 2 at the Commercial UAV Expo was focused on the exhibition floor and a chance for everyone to interact in person for the first time since the last physical event in 2019. In the past, this might not have been a “note worthly” statement, but give the challenges that Covid has presented the last 2 years it was obvious that all in attendance were happy to be together again. There was also a full slate of presentations on the conference side with a focus on discussions around updates to FAA regulation for drones and ways the industry can help create more value across various market sectors. On the YellowScan booth, we saw a constant flow of visitors coming through. Not only did folks want to find out more about our release of Explorer, but we had a strong interest in our Mapper solution as well. After yesterday’s morning in the desert sun for the demos, it was nice to spend the day cool and inside.
Day 3 :
As usual with any 3-day industry event, the last day is always a mix of activity and interaction as things wrap up. That said, we had a nice flow of visits to the YellowScan booth till the end of the show. We also had quite a few existing YellowScan users come by to say “Hello” and were very enthusiastic to learn more about Explorer! It was great to have YellowScan solutions present on the Frontier Precision and Skyfront booths as well. Everyone we spoke with felt that Commerical UAV 2021 was a success and that “industry buzz” is back.
