Our new flagship offering can be mounted on a light manned aircraft or switched to different types of UAV platforms

Montpellier, France – September 7th, 2021 – YellowScan, a global leader and designer of next generation of UAV LiDAR solutions, is proud to announce the launch of our latest technological innovation, the YellowScan Explorer. The Explorer can be mounted on a light manned aircraft or switched to different types of UAV platforms. This is the first compact, long-range platform of its kind to hit the market and its versatility allows the end-user to tackle a wide range of projects and mission profiles with the proven ease-of-use that YellowScan’s LiDAR solutions are known for. Its high-power laser scanner can catch points up to 600m away, yet its low weight (2.3Kg without battery) provides users with the most integrable systems on the market. Combined with YellowScan’s full suite of software solutions to easily extract and process your point cloud data, we offer our users a highly accurate set of tools to meet the needs of surveying, forestry, environmental research, archaeology, industrial inspection, civil engineering, and mining sectors.

The Explorer is the fruit of several years of research and learning that YellowScan has gathered working with our customers and partners around the world. Our objective with Explorer, like all of our hardware platforms, is to offer the market a solution that strikes the right balance between size, range, accuracy and weight. It comes with an Applanix APX-20UAV GNSS-Inertial solution, precision of 2.6 cm and accuracy of 2.2 cm. Flight operation speed is 5-35 m/s and capable of AGL altitude up to 300m. Designed to be mounted on fixed-wing UAV, multirotor UAV and manned aircraft (light plane and helicopter) Explorer can enable a large variety of mission profiles. Combined with 1-year unlimited technical support and training, our users will be ready to take full advantage of Explorer’s functionality and successfully complete their surveying projects.

“We have been working on Explorer for the last 3 years, building on everything we have learned and achieved from a hardware, software and component integration to date. One of the elements we are most proud of is the laser scanner, which has been designed according our specific specifications. With a maximum range of 600m, the Explorer has exceeded YellowScan’s initial expectations “stated Nassim Doukkali, R & D Project Manager, YellowScan.

“In 2017 YellowScan took part in a research project called FRELON (“French long range lidar”), funded by the European Regional Development Fund. The goal was to develop a new standard for long range LiDAR by bringing together innovative specialists like YellowScan to collaborate directly with Airbus Defense and Space, UAV manufacturer Delair, M3 Systems and utility end-users EDF, RTE, Enedis and SNCF to develop the next generation solution to meet their requirements. We are proud to finally release Explorer. This is our answer to the market’s need for a single long range, yet compact LiDAR unit that can be mounted on light manned aircraft and various UAV platforms, “commented Tristan Allouis, CTO, YellowScan.

The Explorer will be on display at the Intergeo 2021 Conference in Hannover, Germany from September 21st to 23rd, 2021. Come and visit us at booth #20E26 hall 19/20 or click here to get your free ticket.
